Are All Candles Created Equal?
By Linda Shelby of Mia Bella Scent-Sations Candles
Are All Scented Candles Created Equal? Not all scented candles are created the same. Most candles smell good in the store, but the real test is when you get them home. Some gourmet candles will not disappoint you. Most candles contain paraffin. You’re probably wondering what does that mean. Candles that contain paraffin, give off a lot of soot. You know that black stuff that gets on your candle jar, plus it gets all over your walls and furnishings. Plus, it is in the air that you breathe. Here are the top 10 reasons why natural gourmet candles are creating such a stir around the country: 1. Clean burning – the black soot on your walls, furniture and in the air are virtually eliminated. 2. Created from all natural wax – no harmful carcinogens will be introduced into your home. 3. Use of 100% cotton, lead free wicks. 4. Environmentally friendly – use all natural, biodegradable and renewable resources. 5. Clean up using hot soapy water if you accidentally spill any. 6. Long burn time – anywhere from 8- to 120 hours. Burn more evenly, slower and cooler than other candles. 7. Safe – because of the all natural waxes, they can be used by most asthma and allergy sufferers. 8. Value- once you have burned one of these candles you will understand how truly amazing they are. 9. One brand of gourmet candles offer the strongest smelling candles on the market today. 10. Look for companies that offer a fresh new fragrance each and every month. 10 Things To Do With Your Empty Candle Jars: 1. Recycle the glass. 2. Use for a candy jar on your desk. 3. Use for a storage jar – paper clips, etc. 4. Clean thoroughly and re-gift with a “Mix in a Jar”. 5. Make a mini terrarium. 6. Make sand art. 7. Store small pieces of hardware – screws, etc. 8. Use as a button jar. 9. Use in a craft room. 10. Use as a reminder to buy another candle from me! It’s not easy being green, but it’s certainly worth the effort.
